This is the new & improved version of a recent painting I did called "Contemplate".

For those who have downloaded the previous version I'm sure you will notice the major changes to the design.

Here's a video [link] of how I made this painting with the added improvements of the headset (It was a challenge to try and reduce 48hrs of work into a 15minutes film)

Please feel free to share your thoughts of this painting.
Your critiques are always important to me.

This is absolutely stunning. I love space oriented imagery, I find it inspiring and renewing.
The detail in the skin and hair is amazing. The slight wrinkles of expression are a perfect touch, really adding a real feel to the piece. The design of the technology is awesome and detailed, yet not distracting. The image, to me, is about the individual and not the electronics or technological aspects and I appreciate that greatly in this image. The lighting is not subtle but it really accentuates the features very well, and while it's thick in some spots the detail retained through the filter of color is perfect. I feel like I am intruding on a personal moment, the expression strikes me as deep in thought.

Really moving, inspiring piece of art and I feel it was time well spent oogling it :)

Thank you ^_^ for taking the time to view this
painting and writing this wonderful critic. I always like
reading peoples inner most thoughts on my paintings - it brings me closer to artists like yourself.
I learnt that Art can be a very powerful tool to draw peoples emotions.
You are absolutely right the concept of this painting was all about
looking into the inner-self.

When I was doing this painting I was going through a phases in my life where I
was reflecting on all my failures and achievements - you can say I was soul searching,
trying to find some meaning or purpose in my life. I was trying to put all those mixed feelings into
this one character. And I knew it wasn't going if it was an Alien.

Hollywood with all its Cliches films always likes to portray Aliens as the bad guys - dehumanizing them to a point where its okay
to nuke a whole species. I guess its just fear tactics they always used to keep us divided. It's already working on us humans today
(Race, Sex, Religion, Politics, Philosophy, Nationality).

I guess this is what triggered me to use an Alien instead of a human - I basically wanted to break that trend, this "Alien invading earth" stereotype.

Doing this painting wasn't an easy task, there was a big learning curve before I started this paint like studying light and colour, which took me years to understand. I learnt a lot of useful techniques along the way especially when I was making those scaly bumpy skin texture FX.
I hope you had the time to view the speedpaint video :)[link] Port-Royal was a great inspiration.

It's really awe inspiring to watch the speed painting. I really love digital painting but when I have to choose between my writing or art I tend to write. For some reason it really helps me relieve stress.

I can tell you really have an eye for this work - do you use it in your daily career or is art a hobby/obsession/passion? I always thought it would be too easy to pour myself into art and just do that for my career - like I would never be challenged because I pick up techniques too fast. I am self taught in photoshop and all my work for the last decade has been in photoshop. My mom says DO something with your talent... well instead of doing art I think writing will be my career and art will be my passion. lol

I can appreciate your view on viewing an inner struggle through an alien form. I love aliens, I wish there wasn't so much fear mongering over them. That new movie Mars Needs Moms, for ex, I watched that with my son and felt so sad through the whole thing. When the movie finally took a turn for the better at the end I was like YES! So seeing your work really inspires me to further progress in accepting more people for who they are. I don't want to see skin tones or racial differences, I want to know who they are within.

What you painted has such emotion that I find it hard to pinpoint that emotion in other artists work. I see more passion and personal flare in most of your work than I see in many pieces. I feel like I want aspire to be more like you when I am in your gallery. Thank you for that :)

Writing is something I always wanted to do as a kid but my dyslexia kinda put me off
from following that path :( My head is full of ideas though. Right now
I am thinking about creating my own comic book :) This is just a way to rekindle my passion for writing.
The story will be based on "Final Duel".

Career wise, I currently do freelance work in London. The pay is okay but it's not
as fun compared to doing art as a hobby - With the freedom I feel it relaxes me.
You might have noticed I haven't been doing any art lately that's because
I have been real busy trying to start my own business in fashion.
If you can send me a Note with your email I can email you my News Letters.
I basically want to keep my customers updated with all my latest products. At the same time
I am trying to do this FINAL DUEL project. Juggling the time to do both this works can be frustrating.

No matter what you should always follow your passions, if its writing you enjoy
then focus your time & energy on that. You are very talented designer as well
don't let anyone stop you ;)

Thanks for all those kind words I'm really glad this painting has touched and inspired
you. This is something I always want to achieve in my paints.

You know :) you could always draw the comic and write the outline of the story and have someone else actually flesh it out. A comic is much easier since it's typically words to accentuate the images - though, I could imagine finding the right words can be tricky. I too want to write/draw some books.

I wouldn't worry too much about juggling your time. Even if it takes you a few years to finish your comic you could end up with something that a particular audience will obsess over. You are absolutely correct, passion is something that should drive no matter what anyone else expects of you.

I think inspire is a word I barely feel fits how I felt looking at your art. I just really feel that pressure of my own ambition and impatience fighting from within. I want to aspire to take into account detail and a style or flair on my work which I tend to loosely capture. Looking at your work makes me god back over my old work and pick it apart- I want to do it better!! :)

Hi, Sorry for the late reply :) I was so busy watching your
amazing speedpiants on Youtube.

Yeah I really like reading comics or graphic novels - this is the place where I get inspiration from.
You know I have though about that but it is hard to find a dedicated Artisit or writer
who is willing to take over my projects. Most of the time I just work on my own; the
benefit of working alone is the diverse skills you gain.

As for my project, I will be writing a short story after I release the video.
I might even send my idea to famous science fiction writers or animators who might be
interested in creating the universe for the story.

I really see the passion and dedications in your paintings each paintings become better and better.
You are well on your way to becoming a great artist. I am also with you on that journey.

:) I love meeting other people who are growing as artists -> I've met so many people who leave this site eventually and so rarely maintain a long term friendship.

Maybe in the future when we're both feeling especially skillful we can do an art exchange or collab :) Would be totally neat!

I, for one, am looking forward to your future projects ^.^

Me too, I had the similar experiences :) its a rare thing to have a strong friendship knowing that they can change at any moment.
Look on the bright side there's so many users out there on DA, I'm sure you are bound to find other cooler friends
and greater artists here who can appreciate, inspire and admire your stunning arts.

I would be honored to do a collab project with you. Feel free to share your ideas - I'm all ears.
I haven't been doing much art lately which is a shame :( I am currently working on a new design tonight ( ~_~ My aim is to
brush up my painting skills). Once its finished I will show it to you.

The painting is basically based on my new fashion logo. I will provide more details about my fashion label in my next journal.

Thx Im so glad you like this painting :) b4 I started this Piece I spent a lot of dayz trying to find cool techniques on photoshop. I came up with my own method when i was drawing the skin texture. Looking at references of real animal photos really helped as well. The more you observe and understand how color and light works around you the better your paintings are going to be.

^^ I never get tired of watching Stargate the movie. SG : universe was so good it's sad it got canceled :(
